Dier – valued at over £40million – has been earmarked as a potential replacement for Michael Carrick.

다이어는 처음 토트넘으로 이적할 당시 수비수를 맡고 있었지만, 포체티노 감독에 의해 미드필더로 변신했으며, 지난 시즌 단 한경기를 제외한 모든 경기에 출전하며 토트넘이 리그 3위로 시즌을 마치는데 결정적인 기여를 했다.
하지만 사우스햄튼에서 완야마가 합류했고, 포체티노 감독이 3-5-2로 전술의 변화를 시도하면서 그는 더이상 선발출전을 보장받지 못하고 있는 상황이다.
맨유는 그의 영입을 위해서 과거 협상을 진행하는데에 매우 어려움을 겪은 경험이 있는 다니엘 레비와 다시한번 협상을 벌여야만 한다.
